I haven't written for the Call Board for a few issues. The Railroad Display Committee of the Greene County Historical Society is still very active and has lots of projects in the fire. Since the holidays are over, things are beginning to get back to normal.
The caboose has been lettered. A local man made the letters and reproduced the capital logo as well. He did a very good job. They are vinyl and it is very hard to tell that they weren't painted on.
We are holding our annual model railroad clinic Feb 23rd & 24th, at 7 PM. It has been very successful. If anyone out there would like to attend or help by putting on some type of clinic, please let me know. We charge $5.00 per family and had about thirty in attendance last year. So far, we someone on weathering, making trees, buildings from kits, buildings scratch built, wiring, benchwork, and railcar maintenance. If you have a specialty you would like to work with, let me know.
We are also planning a real railroad dinner. The menu will be from those used on the various railroads. A couple of our members had the chance to attend some of these dinners in Pennsylvania. They were great. I will keep you posted on that project.
We enjoyed a good turnout for the November open house. I think we had some 375 to 400 people in the two afternoons. We even had our caboose open to visitors.
The last item I would like to tell you about is that we are starting to sell railroad cars with the Railroad Display Committee logo. The HO car will be $15.00 assembled and $12.00 in kit form. N cars will be $12.00. Let us know if you are interested.
"Till next time
